Formed in 2005, the Real Ale Society is open to all members of the college (not just the miners!). We organise trips to pubs, beer festivals and breweries, in a bid to find the finest cask-conditioned ales and enjoy them in a sociable atmosphere.

We are a proactive group, who have made ourselves known around the college in the short time that we have existed. We successfully campaigned to have the Southside Bar reinstated after it was closed permanently for college refurbishment; it's now under Linstead going by the name of 'Harrington's'. Although Harrington's has now been demolished due to halls redevelopment. We've also defined the 'Pub Walk' - a lengthy stroll around a section of London in search of any pubs serving good ales, with priority given to merriment and finding new ales. With more than 5,000 pubs to choose from we are, in some ways, lucky to be in London! Think of it as our job to find the ones that are worth going to. Now why would you not want to join us ..

In the coming year, we intend to hold a beer festival on campus next year, in association with the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), with whom we are affiliated.
